Frazadas are gloriously colourful South American textiles. Hand made from sheep's wool, they are traditionally used as throws, rugs, bedcovers or even picnic blankets! Each design is unique – woven by an Andean artisan over the course of about one month. However you choose to use yours we can promise it will be thick, warm and luxurious.
Sourced from villages in the Andean mountains, each frazada takes around one month to complete. All dyes are natural and each design is unique. The techniques have been passed down through generations but these traditional textiles are unfortunately becoming more scarce as artisans seek more lucrative employment in other industries. Buying a frazada supports Andean women to sustain their ancient crafts.
Sponge clean or hand wash cold with a detergent suitable for wool. As the dyes are natural you may experience some colour-loss if washing. If using your frazada as a rug, we would recommend a non-slip underlay such as Teewhite.
